Dance studio owner and local theatrical producer Amy Cave took an interest in me and the broader idea of fostering a space where kids could design, direct, and produce their own shows. I was fortunate enough to be among the directors in the festival’s first season, directing an hour-long production of The Little Mermaid. I followed this the next year with an original 45-minute version of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, edited only for length.
